For the past 25 years I have volunteered at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. I have been a volunteer gift shop worker, and a volunteer buyer. We are expected to work twice a month. My shift is the first Friday afternoon and the 5th Monday morning.

Today has been slow. I’ve sold lots of candy and a few toys. This is our wall of baby items. As you can see there’s a pretty good choice for a very small gift shop. And this side is for the bigger kids.

I was feeling a bit sorry for myself since I was getting bored. But just now a lady came into the shop to buy some candy and told me that her grandchild no longer has cancer since the treatment that they were giving him worked.

How marvelous and this is why I volunteer.
