The TGV train from Avignon to Paris was quite full. The Gare de Lyon seemed very busy but once I stepped outside it seemed quiet. I hardly had to wait for a taxi. The driver got me to my destination in very little time. But then it could have been the weather. It was dreary and overcast , threatening rain.
Since arriving, I’ve been to 2 exhibition, one was crowded and the other less so. The first was at the Musee du Luxembourg – Fragonard in Love and the second at the Palais Galliera. The wardrobe of the Contesse Greffulhe was featured. Wow and wow again. She inspired Proust and the most famous dress designers of her time. The exhibition will be there until next March. The opera was at the Bastille (L’Elisir d’amore) and seemed to be sold out. The opera was well received and we really enjoyed it.
We ate a wonderful lunch at Thoumieux at 79 Rue St Dominique, and unfortunately for them, there were a lot of empty tables..
The city seems to be getting back to how it was before the terrorists arrived but I have noticed many more police on the streets. They are just walking around in 2’s, not doing anything in particular. But the police are a presence. The taxi drivers have said that fewer people are out in the evening than usual.
Today it is raining. This is something this California girl has missed. My cousin and I will probably find another exhibit.
