Have you been to  the town of Lourmarin in the Vauclause?  This is worth a detour!

We took the back roads and arrived at the castle about 10:30.  The castle dates back to the Middle Ages. The “new” part was built in the 15th Century – Renaissance.  Skipping ahead to the 1920’s, the castle was slated for destruction but Robert Laurent-Vibert who was an industrialist from Lyon stepped in and bought the property.  He was also a scholar and a professor and made arrangements for the castle to be renovated.  Upon his death, he donated the property to an organization that would help your artists and organize cultural events.

The town is adorable but the stores stay closed until at least 3:00.  Bring your camera and snap away!
